Members are reminded that the Society’s final evening talk in the 2016-2017 series on Travel and Exploration will be on Tuesday 16th May, when we will be stepping in the footsteps of our predecessors!
Katie Hambrook was a leading member of the Place Names Group during the Archeox: East Oxford, One History or Many?) project which ran from 2010 to 2015. Her group dug through documents rather than mud to recover local place names and old field names to reconstruct the landscapes and land use of the area in the past.
Katie’s illustrated talk is entitled “Travelling Through Time: the place-names and field-names of east Oxford”
The talk will start at 7.30 pm in Iffley Church Hall, Church Way.
